Almaty city web site...News, weather and links for the city of Almaty in both Russian and English


Web-site of Mayor V.Khrapunov and Almaty City Administration This is an updated site on the city, but the English language version is temporarily unavailable. The book a hotel link is still working.

The World Factbook is produced by CIA's Directorate of Intelligence. The Factbook is a comprehensive resource of facts and statistics on more than 250 countries and other entities, it's a good place to get an overview of not only Kazakhstan, but other countries as well.


The Lonely Planet guide to Central Asia was one of the few books we found with information about Kazakhstan. Their web site is easy to navigate and has lots of information.


An informative site on with sections on the people, culture, history, land and nation. There is more info on the Kazak people here than any other site I have found. City profiles of Almaty, Oskemen, Pavlodar, Semey, and Shymkent.


Cindy & Sergey have put their informational newsletters online! History, traditions, fairy tales and family stories are some of the things you can find here!


The US Department of State has information on International Adoptions, guidelines, children's issues, country specific information. The Kazakhstan flyer is dated November 1999 but it will give you an understanding of what to expect, it does list addresses and phone numbers for the Kazakh and Russian embassies. They also list clinics in Moscow authorized to conduct mandatory medical examination of child.
